About the Role

As a senior member of the team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert income tax and stamp duty advice across major transactions
  • Advising on corporate restructures, asset transfers, and high-value deals
  • Conducting tax due diligence and managing stamp duty risks
  • Drafting and reviewing transaction documentation for tax compliance
  • Liaising with regulatory and revenue authorities
  • Monitoring legislative developments in Indian tax and stamp duty laws
  • Collaborating with corporate, finance, projects, and real estate teams for integrated legal solutions

About the Team

As an Associate in our Tax Practice, you will play a key role in advising on some of India’s largest and most complex transactions. This includes providing high-level advisory services, particularly on stamp duty, income tax, corporate restructures, and cross-border transactions involving multinational corporations, listed entities, and private company groups.

You should demonstrate strong analytical ability, sound commercial judgment, and a solid working knowledge of Indian tax laws. Experience in advising energy clients, infrastructure projects, structured finance, and large-scale M&A transactions will be highly valued.

Qualifications & Key Attributes

Legal Expertise:
Experience in structured finance, securitisation, asset-backed financing, and complex debt transactions is desirable. A strong foundation in general corporate and financing laws is preferred.

Drafting & Documentation:
Excellent drafting skills with attention to detail and precision in transaction documents and tax opinions.

Transaction Management:
Ability to manage complex, multi-party transactions efficiently from inception to completion.

Client-Centric Approach:
Strong relationship management skills and the ability to deliver commercially pragmatic legal solutions.

Analytical & Communication Skills:
Capability to translate complex tax laws into clear, actionable advice.

Commercial Awareness:
Understanding of the business environment in which tax advice operates.

Collaboration & Leadership:
Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams across practice areas.
