IBM is seeking a Senior Attorney to join their India and South Asia (ISA) legal team in Bangalore.

Role Overview: India & South Asia (ISA) Legal Team

As a Senior Attorney, you will play a critical role in supporting IBM’s domestic businesses in India and South Asia, alongside its global delivery missions. You will primarily advise two core business units: IBM Consulting and IBM Technology.

This hybrid role requires an autonomous, growth-minded lawyer capable of driving ethical conduct and improving legal processes within a fast-paced multinational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Negotiations: Advise and negotiate high-stakes IT engagements and contracts with both government and commercial entities.
  • Cross-Functional Legal Support: Provide strategic counsel to business and support functions (Procurement, HR, Finance, Real Estate, and Security).
  • Specialized Advisory: Navigate complex legal issues surrounding privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, and workplace relations.
  • Dispute Resolution: Manage contractual disputes, litigation, and regulatory compliance changes.
  • Corporate Governance: Facilitate and enforce compliance with IBM’s internal policies and procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess a strong background in Indian corporate and technology law:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (Qualified to practice law in India).
  • Experience: 9 to 15 years acting in a legal capacity (in-house, law firm, or a combination).
  • IT Sector Expertise: Deep experience negotiating IT contracts involving services, software, and cloud solutions.
  • Government Procurement: Strong familiarity with Indian government procurement policies and procedures.
  • Subject Matter Knowledge: Proven experience advising on privacy, cybersecurity, IP, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an in-house legal environment at a multinational company.
  • Direct sector experience in Information Technology.
  • Experience advising on active disputes and litigation in India.
