A prominent law firm in New Delhi is opening applications for the position of Associate Trainee / Assessment Intern. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in specialized legal practice areas with a direct path to converting into a full-time Associate.
About the Opportunity
The firm is looking to engage up to two (2) candidates for an initial assessment period. Based on performance and merit during this tenure, one (1) candidate will be selected and converted into a full-time Associate role within the firm.
Roles and Responsibilities
Selected candidates will actively assist the core legal team in the following capacities:
- Legal Research: Conducting thorough legal research on GST, Customs, Foreign Trade, and allied laws, including statutes, rules, notifications, circulars, and case law.
- Drafting: Preparing drafts of replies to notices, appeals, writ petitions, written submissions, legal opinions, and other legal documents with accuracy and clarity.
- Litigation Support: Assisting in litigation matters before various adjudicating authorities, appellate forums, and tribunals.
- Advisory & Compliance: Supporting the firm’s advisory, compliance, documentation, and day-to-day matter management.
- Docket Management: Keeping track of crucial deadlines, upcoming hearings, and case updates.
- Diverse Practice Areas: Gaining direct exposure to expanding practice areas, including Intellectual Property Law (IPL) and Civil Law, among others.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Candidates meeting the following criteria are encouraged to apply:
- Final-year students pursuing a 5-year or 3-year LL.B. course at a university recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI), OR freshers with up to 1 year of experience.
- For Final-Year Students: Must strictly intend to enroll as an Advocate with their respective State Bar Council immediately upon completing their degree.
- For Freshers: Must already be enrolled as an Advocate with a State Bar Council, or be awaiting results from the latest All India Bar Examination (AIBE).
- Skills Required: Proficiency in conducting thorough legal research and effective drafting using legal databases like Manupatra and SCC Online.
Remuneration & Stipend
- During Assessment Period (6 Months): ₹10,000/- per month
- On Conversion to Associate: ₹20,000 to ₹30,000/- per month (CTC)
Important Terms & Conditions
- Period of Assessment: 6 Months.
- Selection as an Assessment Intern/Associate Trainee does not automatically guarantee conversion to a full-time Associate. The firm reserves the absolute discretion to terminate the association at any time.
- In the event a candidate does not intend to enroll as an Advocate—whether after completing the assessment or after being appointed as an Associate—the firm may, at its discretion, terminate the association.
Location
- Office Location: Rajendra Place, New Delhi.
- Mode: Completely On-site. The candidate must be physically present in the office throughout the association (both as a trainee and as an associate). Remote work or work-from-home options will not be accommodated under any circumstances.
