The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has officially released the notification for its Internship Scheme 2024 for the upcoming July – September 2026 quarter.

As a statutory body under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, FSSAI offers an excellent opportunity for students pursuing graduation, post-graduation, or higher degrees to gain hands-on experience in food regulation, legal enforcement, policy framework, and food safety administration.

🎓 Eligibility Criteria

FSSAI is accepting applications only from students currently pursuing full-time Graduate, Post-Graduate, or Higher Degrees from recognized Indian or foreign institutions.

⚠️ Note: Students who have already completed their courses are not eligible to apply.

The eligible educational streams include:

  • Law: Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) / Master of Law (LL.M.).
  • Science & Technology: Post-Graduate Degree/B.Tech/B.E. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, Agricultural/Horticultural Sciences, Biotechnology, Toxicology, or Public Health.
  • Engineering: B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering (Strictly 3rd and 4th-year students only).
  • Management & Business Administration: Policy Regulation, Finance, Taxation Law, Marketing, Human Resources (HR), Economics, Statistics, and Entrepreneurship.
  • Commerce: Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) & equivalent courses.
  • Public Policy & Journalism: Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Public Policy, Public Administration, Journalism, Mass Communication, or Public Relations.

💼 Internship Tenure & Stipend

  • Duration: The internship is offered for a minimum of 2 months, which can be extended up to a maximum of 6 months. No applications for less than 2 months will be considered.
  • Stipend: A stipend of ₹10,000 (Rupees ten thousand only) for the entire internship period will be awarded to deserving interns.
  • Stipend Criteria: The stipend is subject to recommendation based on attendance, assessment by reporting officers, and evaluation of the final project report.

Candidates must choose their preferred location based on the availability of their domain:

1. FSSAI Headquarters (New Delhi)

  • Legal
  • Human Resource (HR)
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Quality Assurance
  • Science and Standards
  • Imports/Trade and International Cooperation
  • Policy Coordination, Public Administration, & Social Change

2. Regional Offices (Kolkata, Ghaziabad, Chennai)

  • Food Imports Clearance and Licensing

3. National Food Laboratories (Ghaziabad, Kolkata, Raxaul, Chennai)

  • Food Sampling and Testing (Only for technically qualified candidates)

🛠️ Logistics & Infrastructure

  • Laptops: Interns must carry their own laptops.
  • Facilities Provided: FSSAI will provide designated working space, internet access, and administrative necessities.
  • Accommodation: FSSAI does not cover local lodging, travel, or boarding expenses.

📝 How to Apply for FSSAI Internship 2026

  1. Online Portal: Eligible candidates must apply online through the official FSSAI portal: fssai.gov.in/internship@fssai.php.
  2. Short Write-up: Be prepared to submit a short write-up or presentation on the application portal as part of the final selection process.
  3. Single Application: Submit only one application. Multiple applications will be rejected.

📄 Documents Required at the Time of Joining

If selected, you must produce the following original documents on your date of joining:

  • An official letter from your Institute confirming your current student status.
  • A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your college/university for the internship duration.
  • A Character Certificate from your Institute authority.
  • Proof of educational qualifications (as listed in your application).
