Purpose of the Role
The Legal Counsel protects IDEMIA by ensuring compliance with laws, and adds value by providing legal advice that supports business decisions and operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contracting (50%)
- Draft, vet and negotiate contracts for BU CS, including:

- Handle public procurement: review tenders, RFPs and RFQs, and prepare pre-bid queries and deviations
- Draft and review various legal documentation
- Advise senior management on legal issues, impact assessment and risk mitigation
- Research new legal developments
2. Litigation (50%)
- Draft and review legal notices and replies
- Draft and review petitions, affidavits, submissions, applications, replies and pleadings
- Handle matters such as:
- Arbitration
- Writs
- Labour disputes
- Criminal matters
- Consumer disputes
- Pre-litigation mediation
- Brief external counsel and follow up on litigation matters
- Research and advise on litigation strategy
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to complete assigned projects
