Consumers India, in collaboration with THE SOCIETY FOR UPLIFTMENT OF MASSES (SUM)—an NGO holding Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations—has officially announced the call for applications for its 47th Batch of Online Research Internship.
This prestigious, month-long virtual program offers students a unique opportunity to deep-dive into critical consumer welfare issues, gain practical legal and empirical research skills, and work under the mentorship of top industry experts.

Eligibility Criteria
- Open to students pursuing Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Ph.D., or any other higher education program in any discipline from a recognized institution in India.
- Must possess an active interest in consumer protection, advocacy, and social justice.
- Must have sufficient capabilities to navigate a rigorous online/virtual internship framework.
Perks & Learning Outcomes
- Zero Registration Fees: The program is entirely free.
- UN-Linked Advocacy: Research outputs are routinely shared with apex authorities and have historically contributed to successful national campaigns.
- Practical Training: Gain hands-on exposure to quantitative data collection, survey analysis, Right to Information (RTI) filings, and reporting deceptive marketing to ASCI and GAMA.
- E-Certificate: Awarded to all successful candidates upon completing individual and group assignments.
Note on Mode of Work: While the internship is completely online, selected interns residing in the Delhi-NCR region may be requested to attend periodic physical interactions with mentors and accept occasional local volunteering assignments. No stipend or travel reimbursement is provided.
