Eligibility & Selection Criteria

The program is open to a wide range of students across various disciplines who meet the following academic requirements:

Prior Participation: Students who have previously attended any NHRC internship program are ineligible to apply.

Academic Standing:

  • Students in the 3rd year or higher of an integrated 5-year PG course.
  • Students in the 3rd or final year of a standard graduation course.
  • Any student enrolled in a Post-Graduate degree (including 3-year LL.B programs) or a Post-Graduate diploma course.

Active research scholars from any academic stream.

Minimum Marks: Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in Class X, Class XII, and in the first four semesters of their current degree program.

Age Limit: Applicants must not be older than 28 years as of April 1, 2026.


Academic & Application Requirements

  • Minimum Marks: Applicants must have at least 60% marks in Class XII and in the first four semesters of their graduation or five-year integrated course.
  • Statement of Purpose (SoP): A 250-word write-up titled “Statement of Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship” is mandatory. Preference is given to students demonstrating research potential in human rights.
  • Letter of Recommendation (LOR): Applications must include an LOR from the Principal, HOD, or Dean of the applicant’s current institution (as per the prescribed Annex-I format).
  • Documentation: Scanned, attested photocopies of mark sheets for Class X, Class XII, and the first four semesters of the degree course are required.

This is a full-time program (10:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday) featuring:

  • 40-45 Sessions: Interactions with the NHRC Chairperson, Members, and domain experts.
  • Activities: Group projects, book reviews, and film screenings on issues like child labor and health.
  • Virtual Field Visits: To jails, police stations, and NGOs.
  • Stipend: Successfully completing interns receive ₹2,000.
  • Certification: Awarded based on punctuality, discipline, and timely submission of project reports.
