Role Purpose & Impact

Wipro operates across 65 countries with over 230,000 employees. As the Compliance Manager, you will oversee approximately 9,000 compliances across 62 countries to safeguard the company’s “license to operate.” This role provides strategic oversight, regulatory assurance, litigation support, and stakeholder governance across employment compliance, statutory remittances, audits, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Employment & Labor Law Compliance

  • Formulate a strategic approach to ongoing labor law compliances across India and global operating entities.
  • Identify compliance gaps, assess potential risks, and execute timely mitigation plans.
  • Monitor country-specific employment compliance requirements and emerging regulatory changes.

2. Statutory Registrations & Filings (India)

  • Procure, renew, and manage all statutory licenses, registrations, and approvals from Indian government authorities.
  • Ensure timely submission of statutory reports, returns, declarations, and forms under applicable employment laws.
  • Oversee the accurate remittance of statutory contributions, including ESIC and the Labour Welfare Fund (LWF).

3. Audits, Inspections & Regulatory Engagement

  • Prepare data for client audits, government inspections, external statutory audits, and internal reviews.
  • Liaise directly with government authorities, participate in conciliation proceedings, and represent the organization before labor authorities, tribunals, and courts.

4. Litigation & Investigative Support

  • Manage employment-related litigation matters by coordinating documentation, legal responses, and court submissions in India.
  • Oversee inquiries related to background verification (BGV) failures, disciplinary investigations, and execute absconding processes.

5. Vendor & Business Operations Support

  • Conduct employment compliance assessments of third-party vendors supporting the Facilities Management Group (FMG) and Global Security Group (GSG).
  • Provide employment compliance inputs and risk assessments for RFQs, client due diligence, and contractual reviews.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

  • Mandatory: A Law Degree (LLB) and/or an MBA.
  • Preferred: Additional qualifications or certifications in Labor Laws, Industrial Relations, or Corporate Compliance.

Experience & Competencies

  • 12–18 years of progressive experience in labor laws, employment compliance, and employee relations within large, complex global organizations.
  • Deep exposure to Indian labor legislation is required; experience handling global employment compliance is a major advantage.
  • Proven track record of handling government inspections, audits, conciliation proceedings, and court matters.
  • High attention to detail, documentation discipline, and the ability to operate in high-pressure, audit-driven environments.
