Eligibility Criteria for Professor of Law

Applicants must meet the UGC Regulations, 2018 standards. You can qualify through one of two routes:

Route A (Academic):

  • An eminent scholar holding a Ph.D. Degree in Law (or an allied/relevant discipline).
  • A high-quality record of published work and active engagement in research.
  • A minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
  • A total research score of 120 as per UGC criteria.
  • A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in a University/College (as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) AND/OR research experience at an equivalent level at University/National level institutions.
  • Documented evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.

Route B (Professional):

  • An outstanding professional with a Ph.D. degree in the relevant/allied/applied discipline.
  • Significant contributions to legal knowledge.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience, supported by documentary evidence.

Important Information for Applicants

  • Previous Applicants: If you applied for unfilled teaching positions under Advt. No. 02/2022/ACD or 02/2023/ACD, you must apply afresh with updated information. However, you are exempted from the application fee (subject to submitting proof of your previous payment).
  • Shortlisting: Mere possession of the prescribed qualifications does not guarantee an interview call. Applications will be screened and shortlisted based on prescribed criteria.
  • Cut-off Date: The cut-off date for determining eligibility is the last date of receipt of online applications (20.10.2026).
